A taste of Mega Monster Battle Arena’s music

In 2009, we were involved with one of the 11kernenoperas produced by Dario Fo for the fifth anniversary of the Westland municipality. The result was Mega Monster Battle Arena™, a mix between a game and contemporary music theatre for youth. The music was written by Daniël Hamburger, who also performed it live at the shows with an awesome band. One of the nicest things about this collaboration was that we worked out a system for live adaptive music to accompany the game scenes (which were performed according to rules, not a script). Here’s a video of a reprise of a part of the opera. It doesn’t show any of the actual game, but it does give you a good sense of what the music and the overall performance was like. Enjoy.
